Chinese oil and gas independent United Energy Group (UEG) is advancing plans to more than double oil and gas production at its flagship Faihaa field at Block 9 in Basra, southern Iraq.

The Hong Kong-listed company has just started issuing the contracts for general engineering services for the expansion. One such contract that involves water injection services has been awarded to China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Company (CPECC).

CPECC is already lined up to provide UEG with pre-engineering services for the Block 9 development, involving the oil and gas gathering system, export pipelines, water treatment system, power plant and crew camp.
