European supermajor Shell has decided to exit three exploration blocks offshore Colombia where it made a series of potentially large natural gas discoveries in Caribbean waters.
Over the past decade, Shell and project partner Colombia’s Ecopetrol struck gas with the Kronos-1, Gorgon-1, Purple Angel-1, Gorgon-2 and Glaucus-1 finds in blocks COL-5, Purple Angel and Fuerte Sur.
According to Ecopetrol, Shell opted not to continue in the consortium and relinquished its 50% operating stakes in COL-5, Purple Angel and Fuerte Sur.
