New gas pipeline project will double island's current transmission capacity

Taiwan’s government-owned CPC Corporation has launched the tender for a landmark subsea liquefied natural gas pipeline project aimed at bolstering the island’s natural gas transmission capacity and supply security.

The offshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the second Yong’an-to-Tunghsiao subsea pipeline has drawn interest from several international contractors.

The project carries strategic importance not only for Taiwan’s domestic energy resilience but also for its broader transition away from coal and nuclear power.
