Anglo-French independent Perenco has started a reactivation programme to bring a pair of mature shallow-water fields in Brazil back on stream.
Perenco in April 2024 announced it was purchasing the Cherne and Bagre fields in the Campos basin from Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras for $10 million. The transaction was completed in August 2025.
Production from both fields has been interrupted since mid-2020 ahead of their originally proposed decommissioning, when Petrobras shut down non-lucrative assets in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
