——2026 Qidong Offshore Engineering Conference Welcomes Global FPSO Orders, Inviting Chinese Shipyards & Suppliers to Join the Opportunity
【Introduction】
In April 2026, Finder Energy (ASX: FDR), a leading Australian energy company, will bring its high-profile Kuda Tasi & Jahal (KTJ) FPSO Upgrade Project in Timor-Leste to China for supply chain matchmaking.Chief Operating Officer of Finder Energy, and his core procurement team will attend the 2nd Qidong Offshore Engineering Development Investment Promotion Conference & FPSO&FLNG and Offshore Modular Industry Chain Conference as their first stop in China, extending a precise invitation to high-quality Chinese shipyards, offshore equipment suppliers and engineering service providers to seize the golden opportunity in the Southeast Asian energy market under the global energy transition.
【Project Background: Petrojarl I FPSO Powers Up Timor-Leste Project】
Finder Energy has completed the full acquisition of the Petrojarl I FPSO, a mature vessel with 11 global deployments and 98% operational reliability, recognized as one of the world’s "most easily redeployed" FPSOs. The project targets the PSC 19-11 contract area offshore Timor-Leste, aiming to achieve a Final Investment Decision (FID) in mid-2026 and first oil by the end of 2027. It is projected to produce 25,000–30,000 barrels of crude oil per day in the first two years, with an upgraded reserve of 25 MMbbl (Gross), and will further explore surrounding prospects such as Krill and Squilla.
Adopting an efficient model of "Asset Acquisition + Chinese Modification", the project has appointed SLB (formerly Schlumberger) as the EPC contractor for Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and full-process delivery, while Amplus Energy undertakes core work including FPSO life extension, upgrade modification and operation & maintenance. The project requires comprehensive modification, system adaptation and life improvement of Petrojarl I, creating precise demand for Chinese shipyards with FPSO/FLNG upgrade capabilities, power distribution equipment, automation systems and offshore supporting equipment suppliers.
【First Stop Qidong: Precision Supply Chain Matching via Offshore Engineering Hub】
As a national-level hub of China's offshore engineering equipment manufacturing, Qidong boasts a complete industrial cluster centered on Lvsi Port, gathering industry giants such as COSCO Shipping, Huisheng, Himile, Yanda and Hailong. It has globally leading capacity and technical advantages in FPSO modular construction, offshore equipment upgrade and SPS/SURF system integration.
Finder Energy's choice of Qidong as the first stop in China reflects its recognition of Qidong's mature capabilities in FPSO modification and modular engineering. The upcoming 2nd Qidong Offshore Engineering Conference, co-hosted by the People's Government of Qidong City and Topco Consulting, will set up a special matchmaking session to help Chinese suppliers meet Finder Energy's decision-makers face-to-face and precisely match project requirements.
【Conference Empowerment: Direct Access to Global Projects】
With the theme "Marine Engineering Smart Engine, New Global Coordinate", the conference will be held at Huayi Hotel in Qidong, Jiangsu on April 9-10, 2026. It will bring together top experts and leading EPCs in the global FPSO/FLNG field, and specially invite decision-makers from Finder Energy and Amplus Energy to promote:
1. Petrojarl I FPSO Upgrade Project: Covering full-process requirements such as hull upgrading, modular modification, SPS/SURF system integration and electrical equipment adaptation
2. Supporting Projects for KTJ Oilfield: Including long-term cooperation opportunities in subsea production systems, wellhead equipment and oil & gas processing systems
3. Southeast Asian Energy Market Expansion: Leveraging the project to radiate potential orders from subsequent oilfield development in Timor-Leste and Southeast Asia
Special Invitation to Chinese Offshore Engineering Industry Chain:
✅ Chinese shipyards with FPSO/FLNG upgrade and EPC general contracting capabilities
✅ Equipment suppliers providing core offshore engineering equipment, automation systems and electrical equipment
✅ Technical service providers specializing in FEED engineering design and operation & maintenance services
【Conclusion】
Amid high costs for small-scale FPSO rentals in Southeast Asia, Finder Energy's model of "Asset Acquisition + Local Chinese Modification" brings low-cost, high-certainty order opportunities to Chinese offshore engineering enterprises.
Join us in Qidong on April 9-10, 2026 to connect with the global offshore engineering community, explore new opportunities in the Timor-Leste and Southeast Asian energy markets, and jointly shape the future of the marine engineering industry!
